Sharks!
By Anthony Roderick, Grade 4

All about Sharks.
Not all sharks are big. The dwarf shark is no bigger than your hand, but the biggest shark is the whale shark. It is longer than a bus. But, the blue sharks hunt in groups.

Dolphins vs Sharks.
Dolphins and sharks do not like each other. If a dolphin sees a shark, it attacks the shark. The way dolphins kill sharks is by swimming in groups of five and six.

Information about Sharks
Dwarf sharks are 6 inches long. Whale sharks are 39 feet, 4 inches. Cookie Cutter sharks are 16 inches. Basking sharks are 29 feet, 6 inches. Saw sharks are 3 feet, 9 inches. Thresher sharks are 14 feet, 8 inches.

Sharks’ Food
Sharks eat almost everything. Sharks eat sharks, big fish and small fish.

Killer Sharks
Sharks do not like eating people, because if a shark eats a person, it gets sick because of all of the stuff a person eats. More people die from bee stings than from sharks.

The Capturing
By Luis Rodriguez, Grade 4

Have you ever heard a big noise and seen flashing lights late at night? It was the middle of the night, and I was sleeping in my bed. I woke up from a big noise and blinking lights. I went to my backyard to investigate. You won’t believe what I saw!

Appearing from the mist was a giant UFO. My sister, Marlena, came out of the house. The alien was really weird! He had a big head, and he was green. He was also not very wise. He captured me by surprise, and he threw me into the spaceship. My sister screamed her head off! “Put him down!” she yelled.

As soon as the alien started the engine, he flew me to the Planet Rushmore. On the planet, there were purple mountains. It had a big city like Tokyo. It had gooey, green water. We landed on the planet. As soon as they opened the spaceship doors, I dashed out of the UFO. The aliens started to chase me. I ran into a dark alley. I knocked an alien out and grabbed his gun.

Next, I threatened the alien, and he took me back to the spaceship. “Take me home!” I demanded. He looked shocked, but said, “Fine!” He dropped me off at my house. Then, he zoomed back to Planet Rushmore. I was captured and caught an alien, and threatened him to take me home. I was as lucky as a leprechaun to be home.

Betty Likes TV
Alexis Volkodov, Age 4

Betty is a greyhound. Betty goes on the couch. She drinks water from a bowl. She doesn’t eat dog food. She eats meatballs. She doesn’t bark. Some Greyhounds bark, but Betty doesn’t. She just sits on the couch. When she sits on the couch with us, she watches TV with us. She likes the good movies we pick.
